"The Two Poles"

I remember being bored out of my mind in Biology class while we were learning about the heart, brain, and central nervous system.  I thought it was all a waste of time.  What use would the knowledge be to me in the real world, the purposes of dendrites and synapses and electrical pulses surging inside of the human body escaped me, until recently.
The epiphany came when I conceptualized, wherever there is electricity, there is always a positive charge.  Wherever there is electricity, there is also a negative charge.  Positive ions aggregate and flow in one direction, negative ions bind together and flow on the divergent pathway.  The two poles or “polarities” are antithetical, meaning they are directly opposed; still they co-exist in the same system.  You can’t have one without the other.
Perform this simple experiment to try my assertion:  The next time you wake up feeling great, singing loudly, and smiling ear to ear, take notice how quickly negativity or negatively charged sub-atomic particles are looking to make the molecular leap and kill your positive vibe.  Moods are infectious as the flu and attitudes are the catalysts.  Someone else’s negativism will facilitate your degeneration of character as opposed to your liberation and mental elevation.  One positive, plus one negative, equals no charge.  You didn’t even know it, all that passed were a few words, what may have been said, may or may not be what you heard?  It doesn’t matter you’ve been neutralized!  No charge equals no energy, and no ability to do work.  Work is already hard, but it is even harder when you cannot be efficient.
And God help you if your home or work environment is over run with negativity.  Two negative sub-atomic particles together have heightened magnetic power to steal the positively charged one and to convert it to negative energy, negativism, and amp up the negative flow.  If you are here you probably want to check into Lakeside Mental Health Hospital, because it is hell, chaos, and disorder. Have any sour pusses ever stolen your joy? Negatively charged sub-atomic particles in the atmosphere are called free radicals.  Free radicals cause cancer, and they are just floating around and waiting to make the leap to you and change your polarity. Having your human system filled with all that negativity is toxic.  I suggest avoiding the unhappy and unlucky and gracing the world with a smile.  Smiles are as infectious as frowns.
I thank the singer Pharrell, for his hit song, “Happy,” and his interpretation of positivism.  It’s inspiring as well as uplifting to know that I am not merely left to the mercy of leaping electrons.  My disposition, my character, and my way of being are entirely a personal choice.  I can choose to stay in the progressive flow of positivism, or by default I can allow myself to regress into negativism.  “Poor little me,” or I would say, “it’s all their fault.”  All the circumstances for the change I needed in my life would be left to the moodiness of others and how they ”felt.”  The positive power: to generate, create, and build, God has endowed me with would all be latent, dormant, and impotent.

I know I will still have bad days:  some bobble-head will tell me the glass is half empty when I can clearly see its half full, and some customer service  yo-yo will be hindering my progress at the other end of the phone saying, “Sorry we can’t,” when I know that “we can”.  There will be those mornings when I will speak to a co-worker, friend, or colleague and say, “Good Morning,” and they will say, “I don’t see what’s good about it, I feel like crap, I’m tired, I hate this job…etc.,” I will just ease away, they going down like the Titanic I need to get away so I don’t get sucked down, deuces, feel for you but im outie!  Association brings assimilation, if you surround yourselves with happy people, you’ll be happy.  I tried it,and I’m just happy to be happy!!!

  1. Deep. It is true that negativity can be intrusive in a joyous situation. Even the ones who love the Lord and find happiness and joy in the divine relationship with God may fall prey. As Christians, we must always stay prayed up and connected. We must hold on to our faith and always remember that when you seek God FIRST and HIS righteousness AND lean not to our own understanding, there's always a brighter day ahead . . . a blessing on the horizon . . . joy tomorrow.

  3. 4 Sure the company we keep has a great effect on us. If you want to be positive or happy, surround yourself with people like that. If you want to be negative, sad or bad attitude do likewise. The people we associate with can infect us IF we let them. You can think yourself happy or sad, up or down. You can do all things through Christ which strengthens you.
You were bored in Biology and I was bored in Chemistry. But after reading your blog, I wished I had paid more attention in Chemistry. LOVE YOU, Cynthia
