If I am going to blog about mothers, I should begin by
saying that the closest you will get to experiencing God on this earth, is
through your mother. The bond of parent
and child amplifies the noble attributes of: patience, tolerance, kindness,
forgiveness, and unconditional love.
Think about it, you know “him” or “her”, and they have a face only a
mother can love. I don’t intend to step
on toes, I mean; God bless them, and God has blessed them, he deposited them to
the earth with a caregiver, full of love and nurture. Right
now, there is a man on death row and guess what? His mother loves him, a lot. If anyone is a good person or not so good a
person; if they are winning or failing, if they are on the side of right, or clearly
in the wrong, their mother will still keep on loving them…just like God. Right now, there is a 2 dollar whore who is
the scorn of her community, friends, and family, and the conclusion of the
matter, her mother loves her and will
keep on her loving her till she gets better, or perishes. She will cherish her in death.
Mothers strive and push, dig and grind, hustle and bustle,
and somehow, delay the gratifications of their own needs, to put the bread on
the table for the family, for life.
Jesus said that whoever gives a child a cup of cold water will receive
his reward in heaven (Matthew 10:42).
What do you suppose mama will receive after years of caring for us while
we were still vulnerable and unable to care for ourselves, loving us and feeding
our mouths good things to eat? Could you
imagine spotting the food bill for life?
And My Jesus, the way some folks eat that could be a million dollar proposition,
not to mention the toilet paper, air freshener, and ungodly odors some of you
left in Moms bathroom, after you destroyed her much famed cooking. For certain there are smells only a mother
could tolerate, no one else would invite them back for more, but mothers do.
Some mothers are by birth, and some mothers are made mothers
by designation from the hearts of their beloved. I have known some persons who lacked the
rearing from their biological mom, but when I heard there stories there was
always a woman somewhere who stepped up, took the responsibility for them, and
loved them like their mother would. A
big heart makes a woman become a mother, and for a woman it doesn’t matter that
biologically the child isn’t hers. Unconditional Love is the principle thing. Mothers are magnanimous by their innate nature;
they’re the closest thing to God on this earth.
I am one of those conspiracy theorists who believe that many
of our holidays are manufactured to create opportunities for spending for the
merchants, but Mothers Day is a valid Holy Day and well worth spending for
luxury items, flowers, and dinner. Mama
earned it, I thank God for my mother, she is awfully awesome! She fears God, works hard, and in every
situation is a help in any way that she can be.
She’s followed me everywhere that I’ve ever been, and helped me in everyway
imaginable. This Mothers Day remember
these ideas and try to recall a little of your past and the ways Mother have
been extremely gracious and good to you.
Think about how you would put your cruddy feet all over her couch and
how you would poot her living room up, still she just kept right on loving
you. Remember when you “borrowed” her
car after she was sleep and you weren’t supposed to be driving (stealing), and
remember when she was out of town how you turned her house into a club and a
hotel. And mother always forgave us didn’t
she. I can’t help but be grateful. I thank God for Mom and I thank Him for the
closest manifestation of His divine attributes on this earth, in the love of a
mother.
Excellent!! I love this! It is truly a blessing to have a mother and to be a mother. Unconditional love....one of God's most precious gifts.

ReplyDeleteYou are so right Kevin, we have a wonderful Mom. When I think of Mom, I often think of her patience and the love she shows to others. Being a Mom is hard work yet very rewarding. So I applaud all the Mothers out their who work hard and sacrifice to take care of their children. From your sister Cynthia
